Petrie Terrace, Brisbane

On a very steep and small site this project explores the concept of four stepping floor levels following the slope of the land and taking advantage of the sweeping views towards south. Two courtyards at the centre of the site act as light wells to allow for appropriate ventilation and filtered sunlight, while at the same light providing green areas adjoining to internal spaces. The other two yards connect the house to the two streets towards south and north and provide protected outdoor areas. The circulation on the eastern side acts as a spine and plays with varying experiences of internal, external and hybrid spaces. Green facades are integral to the design and will over time blur the boundary between landscape and structure.
